March 2011

  • Board performance evaluation – The new UK Corporate Governance Code published last year places an increased emphasis on, among other things, the regular consideration of whether boards are performing their role effectively.  We look at this in the light of our experience of carrying out a significant proportion of those board evaluations that have taken place in the investment company sector.

  • All About Independent Pension Trustees - Independent pension trustees are currently very much in vogue, particularly in the eyes of the increasing number of those offering their services for this role!
  • Oriel Securities Investment Companies Directors’ Survey – Many of you will be aware of this survey which is designed to ascertain the views of Non-Executive Directors on a number of key issues facing the listed fund industry.  We consider that this is a worthwhile initiative and would encourage you to complete the survey if you have not yet done so, especially as Oriel Securities will donate £2 to Help for Heroes for every completed survey.   Completing the survey should take no more than 5-10 minutes and is completely anonymous.  It will close at the end of March.  Click here to go to the survey: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/orielsurvey

If you would like to receive the survey results, please email rona.tregoweth@orielsecurities.com

  • Feedback – email us your views on anything you have read in this newsletter or on anything else in the sector that you would like us to look at. Click here to send us your feedback
